The luxurious Grand Velas Riviera Maya opened in 2009, and has a Five Diamond AAA-rating. The Leading Hotels of the World resort has 491 suites, each more than 1,000-square-feet, in three separate locations: adult-only ocean front and ocean-view; family friendly Ambassador Suites; and Zen Garden Suites. The resort also has a nearly 90,000-square-foot spa, which is the region’s largest and winner of Virtuoso’s “Best Spa” in the world award. It is five minutes from Playa del Carmen and 35 minutes from Cancun airport.

All-Inclusive Grand Velas Riviera Maya Rooms

The suites at this resort are divided into three categories, all with upscale furnishings and amenities, native art, and flat-screen TVs. Suites also come with mini-bar for snacks and beverages, included in the cost and refreshed daily.

• Zen Grand: Located three-quarters of a mile from the beach in a jungle setting, this family friendly section has 206 furnished suites, each more than 1,100-square-feet with interior Jacuzzi. Beach shuttle provided at all hours.
• Ambassador family friendly area: This section has 197 ocean-view suites with terrace, some with private plunge pools, and are arranged around the main infinity pool near the Kids’ Club and gym.
• Grand Class: These are 89, 1,300-square-foot suites on the ocean with private terraces with plunge pools, space for in-room massage tables and interior Jacuzzis. This section accepts kids ages 12-16 sharing suites with their parents.

The resort has the usual activities included in rates, such as non-motorized water sports, a fitness center, pool and beach concierge, and recreational programs for children and adults. The resort can also arrange, at extra cost, a wide range of excursions, such as to historic and cultural sites, as well as adventure outings. The massive spa here is where you can get a variety of treatments, at extra cost, such as massages, facials, wraps and more in the spa’s 40 treatment suites.
