Sunset at the Palms, which in 2008 earned a slot on Trip Advisor’s “10 Most Romantic Resorts in the Caribbean,” is a small property with 65 rooms on five beachfront acres, which includes two miles of white, sandy beach. The resort is set amid gardens of trees and flowering plants at the edge of Negril on Jamaica’s west coast.  The resort was also the first to earn certification for Environmentally Sustainable Tourism by the United Kingdom’s Green Globe.

All-Inclusive Sunset at the Palms Rooms

The resort features 65 private “tree-house” bungalows, a stylish cottage design boasting dark-wood floors, peaked ceilings and chic, Asian-inspired furnishings including king platform beds swathed in canvas drapes. White linens, colorful throws and warm wood tones lend a comforting air.

There are two categories of rooms: The airy treetop deluxe rooms, nestled in gardens, and exclusive split-level tree-top suites, with two full baths, a master bedroom on the second floor, and two verandas. All rooms have air conditioning, armoire with TV and U.S. and European cable channels, desk and cushioned chair and direct-dial phones.

Bathrooms have slate tiles, chrome fixtures and glass-enclosed showers with four body jets and two showerheads, plus a slate bench and handheld showerhead.

There are two restaurants and three bars at the resort.

The Palm Grove restaurant features open-air dining and buffet style breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The Lotus Leaf restaurant has a la carte specialties from an eclectic Asian fusion menu.

The Palm Breeze Beach Bar and Grill doubles as restaurant and bar, with sandwiches and Jamaican jerk favorites, served with a variety of cocktails and native Red Stripe beer.

The swim-up Bamboo Bar is a popular spot to cool off and live music in the afternoon can be enjoyed at the Martini Lobby Bar.

All-Inclusive Sunset at the Palms Activities

Many activities abound here, including kayaking, snorkeling (popular is snorkeling around Negril’s arches, caverns, coral gardens and off-shore reefs), sailing, pedal boating and windsurfing. Cooking classes can be taken, too, where you can learn to prepare meals with fresh ingredients from the resort’s 10-acre tropical garden.

The resort has a gym filled with Cybex equipment and hard-surface tennis court. Daytime and nighttime activities are regularly held along with a weekly cocktail manager’s party. Cocktail classes are also offered, along with movies under the stars.

For added cost, the resort can set up day trips for river rafting, canoeing, diving, horseback riding, and mountain biking.
