The adults-only Sandals Whitehouse stands alone in its location on Jamaica’s south coast, within a 500-acre wilderness preserve. The resort comprises 50 acres of woods and has a half-mile white-sand beach. There are three European-inspired villages here, Italian, French and Dutch, all home to luxurious, ocean-front rooms and suites. •Giuseppe’s: Italian cuisine with pastas, pizza and antipasti bar against backdrop of vaulted ceilings, domed windows and a wood-enclosed wine tower, open for lunch and dinner.
•Jasmine’s: Asian accents highlight this restaurant which serves Asian fare for dinner only.
•Café de Paris: The place to come for pastries, crepes, coffees and dessert, open from early morning until 11 p.m.
•Eleanor’s: Caribbean cuisine with white-glove service in a restaurant of plantation style with a turning waterwheel and stone fireplace, open for breakfast and dinner.
•The Bayside: International fare served in a restaurant with sponge-painted walls and vivid mosaics, open for all meals.
•Bluefield Beach Club: Traditional Jamaican food, served noon until 6 p.m.
•Neptune’s: Set overlooking the beach, this restaurant serves classic Mediterranean fare for dinner only.
All-Inclusive Sandals Whitehouse Activities
A wide range of activities are offered here, in addition to the use of four swimming pools, four whirlpools and the beach. Non-motorized water sports included are canoes, kayaks, windsurfing, hydrobikes, snorkeling, Hobie Cats, rides in a glass-bottom boat, knee boarding, sailing, water-skiing and scuba diving (certified divers get two free dives a day and newbies can take a scuba course for $80). Land sports include ping pong, shuffleboard, day and night tennis, a fitness center, board games, beach volleyball and billiards. The Red Lane Spa is where you can book treatments at extra cost.
There is a variety of nightly entertainment here, including a piano bar, talent shows, live shows, a Caribbean Night, live bands and a charity casino night.
