Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach, a Grand Bahamian all-inclusive resort

The 276-room Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach claims to be the only completely all-inclusive resort on Grand Bahama Island. Located about 13 miles from Freeport International Airport, the 26-acre property is dotted with date palms, birds of paradise flowers and hibiscus, and set on a 1,200-foot secluded beach. All manner of activities are included, including trapeze lessons and enrollment in the Viva Wyndham’s Kids’ Retreat. The resort features three restaurants and three bars.

The resort’s 276 rooms each have a private balcony or terrace and are furnished with island-style wicker furniture. All guestrooms are found in three clusters of Victorian, bungalow-style structures, two stories each. The rooms are painted in tones of green and other hues mimicking the bougainvillea and hibiscus in constant bloom outside.  The rooms include marble floors and True Blue bath amenities and laptop-friendly in-room safes. There are also minibars in each room, and pets are welcomed – up to 15 pounds.

There are three restaurants at this resort with menus drawing on Caribbean, Mexican and European influences and also featuring American specialties. Junkanoo serves international fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Viva Café features world-class Italian cuisine a la carte (reservations required), and Bambu is an Asian-oriental restaurant.

In addition, light snacks and drinks are available throughout the resort at the cocktail lounges and beach bar.

All non-motorized water sports are included at this resort, including windsurfing, kayaking, snorkeling and sailing. Free trapeze lessons are available for the more adventurous sorts and there are lighted tennis courts for night play. Nightly entertainment is featured as well and children can have their own fun at the Kids’ Retreat. Dive lessons and excursions are available at extra cost, as is a variety of off-site adventures that include deep-sea fishing, dolphin encounters, visits to the Lucayan National Park and Rand Nature Center, and shopping areas.
