This Club Med property on Guadeloupe is located on the south-central portion of the island of Grand-Terre and boasts an 1,800-foot beach. It offers an impressive array of activities, from windsurfing to monosailing to a circus school for kids and hip-hop dance lessons for teens. The resort has two restaurants, two bars, tennis courts, a kids' club, wellness/fitness center, and 326 rooms spread out over the property. The resort has a botanical garden, and coconut, palm and olive trees. The nearby town of St. Anne is located one and a half miles from the resort and may be reached by walking along the beach.
La Carvelle Rooms
Rooms are air-conditioned and come with coffee machine, European electrical plugs (220 volts), flat-screen television, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, mini-fridge, radio (alarm/CD player) and safe.
Located on what many say is one of the Caribbean's most beautiful beaches, La Caravelle includes several buildings. Les Saintes is a set of one-level bungalows in a more isloated location, close to restaurants and the beach. Maria Galante is a two-story building (no elevator). In the Basse Terre section, rooms are on five floors, with elevator, and the fourth and fifth floors have ocean views, and the first two floors have views of the tropical gardens. In Grande Terre, rooms are on two floors, with a garden or ocean view (no elevator or balconies).
A club room is located on the first, second and third floors of the Grande Terre building with a view of the gardens, and also in the Basse Terre building. Suites are located in the Maria Galante and Grande Terre buildings.
La Caravelle Restaurants and Bars
All-inclusive La Caravelle has two restaurants and two bars, with menus varying constantly to accommodate a variety of tastes -- what resort chefs refer to as the "art of the table."
The Hibiscus restaurant offers an unrestricted terrace view of the beach and ocean, and is noted for its international buffet. There is also a baby corner where parents can prepare meals for their littlest children.
The Biguine restaurant is at the tip of the resort and is located close to the water's edge. Lunches are popular here, though dinners are served on certain evenings.
The Colibri is a bar set in the heart of the La Caravelle village, and looks out over the swimming pool. A cigar service is available here as well, and the terrace accommodates smokers.
The Mango bar is set in the shade of coconut palms on the beach, a great place to unwind with a drink and your feet in the cool sand. Snack service is available.
La Caravelle Activities
All-inclusive activites are aplenty at La Caravelle, and include basketball, beach soccer, beach volleyball, a Club Med Gym with weight-training room, kayaking, water polo, aquafitness, sailing and archery.
La Caravelle is aimed particularly at families and specializes in providing a wide range of activities for children. There is Mini Club Med for children 4 to 11 years old which allows kids to burn off their youthful energy as they are guided into sub-groups according to their ages. There is even a 'Club Med Baby Welcom' for infants through 2 years of age, which provides baby bed, baby bath, changing table, high chair, bottle warmer, and strollers.
Juniors Club Med is for kids 11 to 18 years of age that allows teens to meet others in their age groups and participate in age-related activities of their choices.
