Tropical Storm Warning

Definition: Meteorologists tracking Atlantic hurricanes like those that affect the Caribbean issue an official "tropical storm warning" when a tropical storm is expected to hit the geographic warning area within the next 24 hours.
Examples: The tropical storm warning for Hurricane Katrina was changed to a hurricane warning after the storm's wind speeds grew to more than 75 mph.
