What's Special About Tamarind Cove:
The least expensive of the five Elegant Hotels properties on Barbados, Tamarind Cove still benefits from the bevy of shared services these hotels provide, including complimentary water sports (non-motorized), preferred tee-time at the Royal Westmoreland Golf Course, and a water taxi that shuttles guests to each of the Elegant resorts on the west coast.

Guest Rooms at Tamarind Cove:
Tamarind has 110 rooms ranging from budget, one-bed garden/pool view rooms to luxury oceanfront suites. The decor is tropical-themed with bright and festive purples, greens and aquamarine, and the rooms are clean, and well-lit. Each room includes a private balcony or patio, full bath, air conditioning, and cable television.
The exterior of the pueblo-styled resort does show its age, however; Tamarind Cove is the least refined and most "budget" of Elegant's properties. The right deal, however, could make this a good value.
Activities and Amenities at Tamarind Cove:
The resort offers complimentary non-motorized watersports, pretty gardens, and nightly entertainment by the Oasis Bar. The courtyard pool, while small, is especially lovely, with potted palms at the edges and water that spills in from a second-floor ledge to crash over the lip of the jacuzzi. For business travelers, there are two meeting centers and a conference facility, able to accommodate medium-sized groups of 85-120 guests.
Dining at Tamarind Cove:
Tamarind Cove has two restaurants: Tangiers, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the Caribbean-centric, open-air Sasso, open for dinner only, at different times depending on the week.
The real gem of the Tamarind Cove isn't the resort itself, however, but Daphne's, the phenomenal restaurant next door (and also owned by Elegant). The restaurant offers sophisticated upscale dining and is well worth trying if you have a few extra dollars spend. Stop in for cocktails at least.
More Information on Barbados:
Barbados is a vibrant, energetic island that mixes British refinement and the West Indies' wild side with aplomb. It is home to some of the highest-rated restaurants and Caribbean -- and the most rum shops per capita -- but there's no dissonance: this is an island that knows the right time to wear dress shoes, and when to kick them off.
