Adults-only Sandals resorts have always been noted for high-end romantic settings, and Sandals Grande Antigua sits firmly atop them all: World Travel Awards have voted it the “World’s Most Romantic Resort” year after year, and it's a resort specializing in honeymoons and romantic getaways, one set on one of Antigua’s best beaches (and there are 365 beaches here), Dickenson Bay. The resort is noted for its Rondoval rooms, suites with 20-foot conical roofs, and villas with plunge pools and butler service.

The resort’s suites and villa suites are spread over the Caribbean Grove, rooms surrounded by palm trees, pink plumeria and red ixora flowers, featuring island-made rugs and mahogany furniture, travertine floor tiles for the bedroom and patio and modern baths set in Silver Mist marble; and the Mediterranean Village, with Italian floor tiles, custom-designed mahogany furniture, Turkish draperies, Giallo marble surrounds and baths with Kohler Purist fixtures, whirlpools and walk-in rain showers.

Room categories are:

Luxury room, a Sandals basic, air-conditioned rooms with king beds, amenity kits, private bath/shower and views of garden or ocean. These rooms start at $187 per person, per night.

Concierge room, where concierges help with booking tours, making dinner reservations and restocking your beverages. This service also includes check-in with chilled towel and champagne, guest orientation, weekly reception and stocked mini-bar. These rooms start at $251 per person, per night.

Butler room, where butlers are trained by The Guild of Professional English Butlers who organize and assist guests with all their needs, including unpacking suitcase and making reservations, reserving sun beds on the beach and preparing candle-lit bubble baths. These rooms start at $329 per person, per night.

Sandals resorts typically offer a wide range of dining options, and this one is no exception with nine restaurants:

Bayside Restaurant, set on the beach with white tablecloths and fronds of potted areca palms running the length of the space, and views are through white limestone arches and far is international for all meals.

Mario’s Restaurant, where the design and food is most Italian beneath a towering, V-shaped glass room to allow plenty of island light to stream in. All meals are served here as well.

Eleanor’s serves Caribbean cuisine under a ceiling with banana-frond paddle fans.

The Cricketer’s is an authentic English-style pub, with carved walls, wooden benches, genuine cricket gear and a billiards room.

Kimono’s features hibachi dining with chefs equally versed in culinary and showman skills.

A sushi bar is located next to Kimono’s serving sushi specialties.

OK Corral Restaurant serves Tex-Mex dishes in an octagonal, open-air setting perched two stories above the beach.

Courtyard Bistro is the place for snacks like burgers, hot dogs, fruits, French fries, sandwiches and salads.

Bella Napoli Pizzeria serves wood-oven pizza under red umbrellas on a terrace overlooking manicured lawns.

As for bars, there are many in the resort, including at its restaurants and two pool bars and a piano bar.

Sandals Grande Antigua Activities

Many activities on land and water are available at this resort, including tennis, volleyball, shuffleboard, outdoor chess, squash, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing, hydrobiking and aquatriking. At night, regular stage shows and beach parties are held. There are six pools at the resort, and six whirlpools. Guests can also take scuba diving lessons and arrange treatments at the Red Lane Spa, at extra cost.
