Top Hotels and Resorts in Aruba

By , About.com Guide

Aruba is one of the most developed tourist destinations in the Caribbean, with an excellent offering of hotels and resorts, including many brand-name properties familiar to U.S. travelers. Aruba's main beach areas are lined with high-rise hotels, but you can also find more intimate small resorts, including a good selection of all-inclusive properties.

The Hyatt Regency Aruba is situated on a beachfront 12-acre site that includes a freshwater lagoon, swimming pool complex and beach access. A multilevel outdoor pool has waterfalls and a two-story water slide. The hotel also has a full service spa, fitness center, business center, supervised children's program (Camp Watapana) and a 12,000-square-foot casino. Each room has a terrace with an ocean or island view.

The Aruba Marriott Resort has a relaxing and fun environment that is popular with honeymooners and families alike. The aloe plant in the resort's logo and Dutch-inspired architecture set the tone throughout. Guest rooms are some of the largest on Aruba at an average of 500 square feet, with 100 square foot balconies.

If you are looking for something to make the 400-plus room Aruba Marriott Resort feel a bit smaller, self-contained and with a more attentive staff, this is your answer. The exclusive Tradewinds Lounge, only available to those staying in the Tradewinds Club, is located on the 8th floor and provides sweeping views of Palm Beach.

A rarity, this resort caters equally well to couples seeking privacy, families, beach lovers and those seeking a more urban environment. The complex encompasses two hotels, the Marina Hotel (catering to adults) and the Ocean Suites (for families). The Renaissance boasts Aruba's only private island with 40 acres of private beach. A water taxi is provided from both hotels (coming right into the Marina Hotel's chic lobby). The Marketplace has 100+ shops, restaurants and a movie theater.

Divi Resorts

Divi Resorts
Divi has four interconnected, all-inclusive properties sharing a private beach and golf club: the Dutch Village, Tamarjin Aruba, Divi Aruba, and the Divi Village Golf and Beach Resort. All rooms at the Tamarijn are oceanfront, while the Dutch Village has garden suites. The newer Divi Village also has all-inclusive suites -- across the street from the beach but closer to the nine-hole golf course. The Alhambra Casino is walking distance from all of the Divi resorts, and the properties have a total of 10 restaurants. All-inclusive amenities include tennis, water sports, bike rentals, fitness center, and more.
