All-Inclusive Resorts in Jamaica
Pay one price for rooms, dining, activities, and entertainment

By Robert Curley, About.com

Jamaica is home to more all-inclusive resorts than any other island in the Caribbean, from budget properties like the FDR resorts to the tony Grand Lidos. There are about 30 pay-one-price resorts in all, situated in major resort areas like Montego Bay, Negril, Runaway Bay, and Trelawny. Some cater to families, some to couples only, and some -- like the Hedonism resorts -- to the naughty at heart. My comprehensive guide will help you choose the Jamaican all-inclusive that best suits your needs...

Couples San Souci

Carefree romance defines Couples San Souci, a 150-room property with a fine Italian restaurant, six bars, and Charlie's Spa, named for a resident sea turtle and providing treatments that incorporate mineral waters drawn from the resort's own spring. The resort is located in Ocho Rios.

Grand Lido Negril

This "super-inclusive" resort from SuperClubs has been named the best resort in the Caribbean by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler; the resort is known for its excellent dining options, including the five-diamond Placere Restaurant, as well as its fine beaches and spa (spa services and golf at Negril Hills not included in price).

Grand Lido Braco

Modeled after a historic Jamaican village, this upscale all-inclusive (a SuperClubs property) has a complete fitness center, spa, two Olympic-sized pools, tennis, 84 acres of hiking trails, water sports and golf at the nearby SuperClubs course in Runaway Bay. Has 226 rooms and suites, a conference center, and Piacere restaurant, serving nouvelle cuisine in a formal setting.

Hedonism II

Hedonism II revels in its notorious reputation for naughty couples' activities, liberal amounts of exposed flesh, and yes -- casual hookups by the hot tub. But the naked truth is that Hedonism also welcomes the less-daring with a non-nude beach (alongside the nude one) and typical amenities like tennis, spa, and Jamaican and Japanese restaurants. Located in Negril.

Hedonism III

The Hedonism III resort is located a bit more off the beaten path, in Runaway Bay on Jamaica's north coast, but has the same uninhibited vibe as its sister resort Hedonism III. Highlights include a voyeuristic see-through slide that runs through the disco, Roman tubs in each guest room, and secluded hammocks for two.

Riu ClubHotel Negril

This 420-room hotel on west coast of Jamaica has an all-inclusive package that includes dining at a choice of restaurants (including a Brazilian steakhouse), drinks from an in-room mini bar, tennis, water sports, daily entertainment, and nightlife at Pacha nightclub.

Riu Hotel Montego Bay

Slated to open in September 2008, this all-inclusive hotel will feature a swath of Montego Bay beachfront, 701 rooms, and Asian and Italian restaurants.

Riu ClubHotel Ocho Rios

Recently opened resort has 856 rooms and suites, a freeform pool steps from the beach, and Asian, Italian, and gourmet restaurants -- plus a Japanese eatery and steakhouse for premium-level guests only.

Sunset at the Palms

This Negril all-inclusive has "treehouse-style" rooms in a garden setting alongside two miles of beach. Amenities include a full gym, tennis, classes and nature walks, live evening reggae shows, and five restaurants and bars.

Sunset Beach Resort and Spa

If you're looking for an all-inclusive that's kid-friendly in Jamaica, this is your place. The Sunset Beach is home to the Pirate's Paradise water park, a big hit with the kids, and the resort also has a kid's club and teen center. Later, the adults can relax at the resort's English pub or party at the Galaxy Disco.
