The biggest and best celebration of the Caribbean's favorite drink -- rum -- will take place April 15-21, 2013. The Miami Rum Renaissance Festival will bring together dozens of rum producers from around the world with rum lovers, expert judges, and newbies who are eager to find out more about the cane-sugar liquor that goes into their rum punches, mojitos, and daiquiris.
About Caribbean Travel has attended the festival for the past few years, and let's just say that if you love rum and want to learn more about the culture, history, and diversity of this unique libation, you need to be at this event. The festival includes a series of VIP parties hosted by various rum producers, a comprehensive rum judging and awards program, celebrity seminars and mixology demonstrations, and a two-day Grand Tasting to cap off the week.
For 2013, the festival moves from Miami Beach to more spacious digs at the Doubletree by Hilton at the Miami Airport Convention Center. Ticket prices range from $50 for a day pass to the Grand Tasting to $250 for a week of VIP access to parties, seminars, early admission to the Grand Tasting, and more. Group rates at the host hotel start at $129 per night; use code MRR to book (Compare Prices).
