A late-forming tropical storm has popped up in the Caribbean and is threatening a variety of islands. Tropical Storm Rafael currently has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph, and tropical storm warnings have been issued for:
- The U.S. Virgin Islands
- British Virgin Islands
- Antigua and Barbuda
- St. Eustatius
- St. Martin/Maarten
A tropical storm watch have been issued for Puerto Rico.
UPDATE: 10-14-12: A tropical storm watch has been added for Bermuda.
Tropical Storm Rafael is now located about 165 miles south-southeast of St. Croix, and on its present course should pass over the Virgin Islands tonight. Some strengthening of the storm is expected.
