The 2012 Grammy Awards were announced last night, and while Adele was the big winner, as usual artists from (or with roots in) the Caribbean took home their fair share of statues.
Major Grammy award winners from the Caribbean this year included:
- Rihanna (Barbados): Rap/Sung Collaboration: "All of the Lights," Kanye West, Rihanna, Kid Cudi & Fergie
- Melanie Fiona Hallim (parents from Guyana): R&B Song, Traditional R&B Vocal Performance: "Fool For You," Cee Lo Green, Melanie Hallim & Jack Splash
- Cachao Lopez (Cuba): Tropical Latin Album: "Last Mambo"
- Stephen Marley (Jamaica): Reggae Album: "Revelation Pt. 1: The Root of Life"
