Earl Brushes Bahamas, Moves North; Fiona Follows

By , About.com GuideSeptember 1, 2010

Follow me on:

Hurricane Earl is expected to pass well east of the Bahamas tonight (though a tropical storm warning is in effect for San Salvador island) as it makes its way toward the east coast of the U.S., but the Caribbean isn't out of the proverbial woods yet.

Tropical Storm Fiona is following a nearly identical path as Earl, approaching the northern Leeward Islands this morning. The storm is currently about 200 miles out, and a tropical storm warning has been posted for St. Martin and St. Barts. Tropical storm watches are up for Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts, Nevis, Anguilla, St. Maarten, Saba, and St. Eustatius -- many of the same islands still recovering from the flooding, wind damage and power outages caused by Earl.
