June 25 and June 26, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands will play host to the first BVI Go Green Festival, featuring performances from multiplatinum soul singer Joss Stone and reggae phenom Jah Cure, among others.
The two-day event is intended as "a call to action" to enhance eco-awareness, according to festival founder Abby O'Neal. The day will include a "Growing Green" Fair, an organic and local food fair, and seminars and panel discussions on sustainable energy, green tourism, waste management, and other environmental best practices. Each day will end with a slew of musical performances and a celebratory party.
"BVI is small enough," O'Neal said, "at 64 square miles of total land mass and a population of just under 30,000, to be the 'greenest,' most carbon neutral territory on the planet"
The event will be held at the Go Green Village in Noel Lloyd Park, Tortola. For more information, and tickets, visit Go Green BVI online.
