Hurricane Ike Approaches Caribbean

Hurricane warnings are in effect in the Turks & Caicos and the southeastern Bahamas as the Category 2 Hurricane Ike moves to within 200 miles of Grand Turk Island. Meanwhile, hurricane watches have been posted for the central Bahamas (meaning a hurricane could hit within the next 36 hours) and tropical storm warnings are in effect for northern Haiti and the northern Dominican Republic.
