Bertha Brings Flooding, Power Outages to Bermuda
Tuesday July 15, 2008
Flights and ferries were canceled as Tropical Storm Bertha smacked Bermuda yesterday and overnight, knocking out power and causing significant flooding. A tropical storm warning remains in effect as the large, slow-moving storm moves north and away from the island.
The causeway to the East End of Bermuda was temporarily closed during the height of the storm, stranding some tourists and residents, and some visitors spent an extra night on the island as flights were cancelled and rescheduled for Tuesday.
