Aruba, Jamaica, Mexico Named Top Summer Budget Travel Destinations

SmarterTravel.com recently named its top five destinations for summer travel bargains, and a trio of Caribbean destinations made the list: Jamaica, Aruba, and Mexico.

"With the slower tourist season, hurricane fears and new passport requirements, Jamaican providers are offering deals galore to lure visitors. Orbitz, CheapCaribbean.com and Sandals are just a few of the providers that are looking to sweeten the travel deal," according to the SmarterTravel editors.

Regarding Aruba, Smarter Travel notes that although the island is usually a popular summer travel destination because of its location outside the hurricane belt, "with the abundance of hotel deals, travelers can enjoy the island sun without having to break the bank. As for getting there, US Airways has an Aruba sale and JetBlue also flies to the island and may offer competitive prices."

If your summer travel plans include the Mexican Caribbean or another destination south of the border, SmarterTravel advises, "In addition to hotel and vacation package deals, several airlines, including AeroMexico and Mexicana, are offering sales for travelers looking to get away."

Other top summer travel destinations for the budget-conscious included Las Vegas and Fort Lauderdale.
