How to Pack Light for a Week in the Caribbean

Tuesday May 13, 2008
As you might imagine I travel to the Caribbean quite a bit, and I've found that for most trips of a week or less I only need to pack a single bag for the trip. As a result, I not only avoid having to lug around a bunch of luggage (especially annoying when returning to the U.S., when you have to uncheck and then recheck all your bags as you clear Customs), but I also can usually carry my bag on the flight and put it into the overhead bin, skipping baggage claim and getting onto the beach as quickly as possible!

In my new article, How to Pack Light for a Week in the Caribbean, I share some of my packing tricks with you, including what to wear when you travel and tips on avoiding overpacking (you don't need more than one jacket, for example, and it should be on your body, not in your bag, when you travel).

Although the article is written from a man's perspective, I've tried to anticipate some of the challenges women face in packing. Still, if my female readers out there have any tips of their own, I'd be glad to hear them! Just email me at gocaribbean.guide@about.com
