The Almond Beach Village in Barbados is holding its annual Big Game Week from Jan. 31-Feb. 4, 2008, hosted by former NFL player Billy Taylor. Highlights include a golf scramble, sunset cruise, and other events with NFL alumni, not to mention live viewing of the Super Bowl on multiple big-screen TVs.

At our table in a restaurant on St. Maarten, the movement caused by the earthquake at first seemed like the movement of our ship and we instantly realized that we were not on the ship. It then felt like the rumble of a passing truck but lasted long enough to be a passing train. We Californians at the table recognized the all too familiar earthquake motion and visions of recent tsunamis danced in my head. Others looked to us for advice about what to do. Surprisingly, we all remained seated and by the time we turned to advise other guests seated near windows, the motion had stopped.
