Verandah Resort Opens in Antigua

Friday October 19, 2007
The Veranda Resort & Spa, part of the Elite Island Resorts chain, has opened its doors in Antigua. Located on the island's north coast, the resort includes 200 villa-style suites (with verandahs, of course), Antigua's largest free-form swimming pool, a kid's club, fitness center, cinema, restaurants and bars, and the Tranquility Spa.

"We've only built on 12 of the resort's 30 acres, making the resort one of the most spacious Caribbean properties," said Steven E. Heydt, Elite Island Resorts president. "We designed the property with an emphasis on environmental responsibility and sustainable tourism, while not sacrificing the luxury aspects of an upscale resort." The property is crossed with hiking trails, and the elevated villas have unobstructed views of Dian Bay. Devil's Bridge National Park is the resort's nearest neighbor.

Now through Dec. 20, the all-inclusive resort is offering grand-opening rates that are 50-percent off regular prices; double-occupancy room rates start at $243 nightly. For more information, call 800-345-0356 or visit the resort's website.
