'No Passport? No Problem' Caribbean Travel

Contrary to current hysteria, it's not impossible for Americans to travel to the Caribbean without a valid U.S. passport. First, the new rules only apply to travelers returning to the U.S.; most Caribbean destinations will still let you enter with just a birth certificate and driver's license. Second, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands are part of the U.S., so you'll never need a passport to travel there. And third, the rules only apply to air travel until 2008, meaning that you can still sail to and from the Caribbean passport-free.
