Seasonal Air Service Picks Up

As the weather in the U.S. cools down, flights to the Caribbean pick up. The Caribbean Tourism Organization reports that a number of airlines have started seasonal flights to meet increased demand, including:
- Effective Jan. 11, Air Jamaica will provide nonstop flights from JFK to St. Lucia every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
- Air Transat will begin weekly Sunday charter flights out of Toronto to St. Lucia starting on Dec 24; the airline also has initiated weekly flights from Quebec, Calgary, Halifax and Regina to Montego Bay, Jamaica
- American Airlines has increased service between Miami and St. Kitts from three to five roundtrip, nonstop flights through April 28, 2007
- American Eagle has increased its service to Anguilla, adding two daily flights departing from San Juan, Puerto Rico
- Canjet will fly from Toronto to Montego Bay, Jamaica two times per week starting on Dec. 25
- Continental Airlines will add a second weekly nonstop flight from Newark to Bonaire starting Dec. 16
- Delta Air Lines has added a daily nonstop flight from Atlanta to Santiago, Dominican Republic as well as a daily nonstop and one-stop flight from New York/JFK to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Delta also launched new nonstop service from Atlanta to Port of Spain, Trinidad, Pointe a Pitre, Guadeloupe, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, Martinique, Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Tobago.
- Northwest Airlines will add a new nonstop from Detroit to St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands, effective Jan. 6.
- Ryan International Airlines will increase service from St. Louis to Montego Bay, Jamaica to three flights per week beginning Jan. 2, 2007.
