Jet-Setters Prefer St. Maarten, Bahamas, Anguilla

Tuesday November 28, 2006
The term "jet-setters" used to refer to the fabulously rich who could afford to travel by commercial airlines; now that jet travel is about as common as riding a bus (and much the same experience, many would say), the term better applies to travelers who cross the globe onboard private jets.

But just where do jet-setters travel on vacation? Marquis Jet, a company that helps market private-jet flights, says that three Caribbean destinations are among the top-10 favorite winter holiday spots: St. Maarten (#3), The Bahamas (#6), and Anguilla (#9). Other top destinations: Palm Beach, Fla. (#1); Aspen, Colo. (#2); Los Cabos, Mexico (#4); Sun Valley, Idaho (#5), Jackson Hole, Wyo. (#7), Las Vegas, Nev. (#8), and Palm Springs, Calif. (#10).

St. Maarten, by the way, also made the list of top international holiday-season destinations in a poll of American Express travel agents. Montego Bay, Jamaica made the top five in the Amex poll, as well.
