World Golf Championships Coming to Barbados

Monday November 27, 2006
The Sandy Lane resort in Barbados is set to host the 2006 World Golf Championships-World Cup from Dec. 7-10. PGA golfers will compete on three Barbados golf courses, including the Sandy Lane Country Club Course, the Green Monkey, and the Old Nine Golf Club.

The Barbados World Cup will include participants from 28 nations, including top-ranked English duo Luke Donald and David Howell. The defending champions are Bradley Dredge and Stephen Dodd of Wales, who also will be competing this year. Stewart Cink and J.J. Henry will be representing the U.S.

The event will be covered on ESPN and ABC in the U.S. The recently renovated Mango Bay resort still has rooms available for travelers interested in attending the World Cup. The resort is about 10 minutes from Sandy Lane Country Club. Golfers also can share in the experience with a round at the Barbados Golf Club; Mango Bay guests get a 20-percent discount on greens fees.

For more information, see the Mango Bay website or call 246-432-1384.
