Divi Tiara in Cayman Brac Shuts Down
"Certain economic realities of continuing a dive-oriented resort on Cayman Brac ... influenced our decision," said Divi Resorts vice president of sales and marketing Mark Steward. "Factors included airlift issues, which have affected Divi Tiara’s dive guests in particular as they need to bring additional gear for their sport; increased competition from the growing number of niche market dive destinations throughout the Caribbean; and weather which in the past years has pushed up insurance costs."
Steward said that Divi would continue to serve its dive customers at its resorts in Bonaire -- the existing Divi Flamingo Beach Resort and Casino and a new all-inclusive property slated to open in 2008 with a full-service dive center.

Comments
Divi closed because it mismanaged this resort for years and years. They had a dedicated staff, in both the resort and the dive operation, that kept customers returning–despite their dealings with Divi. But Divi refused to maintain the resort properly. They made promises to their timeshare owners that they did not keep. They have now cut and run and choose to blame the results of their mismanagement on outside forces.
