Florence Bears Down on Bermuda
Saturday September 9, 2006
A hurricane watch and tropical storm warning have been issued for Bermuda, and the island is bracing for the impact of Tropical Storm Florence. As of Saturday, the storm was about 465 miles south of Bermuda but expected to turn north and veer away from the U.S. East Coast. That could bring the storm to Bermuda's shores, either as a tropical storm or hurricane, by Monday.
Experts can't say if the storm's center will pass over the island, but at a minimum high winds and seas are expected. I'll keep you posted as more details become available, and you can also track the storm yourself at the National Hurricane Center website.
