Pirate Packages to Dominica

Monday August 14, 2006
Want to see the sets where "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" was filmed? Check out my recent feature on POTC-related tourism in the Caribbean as well as these new deals from resorts on the island of Dominica, which played a starring role in the sequel.

The 3 Rivers Eco Lodge, for example, has a "Pirates of the Caribbean Package" that includes a tour of the movie sets, Kalinago Indian country, other island tours, food, and all transfers. The seven-night package is $1,300 per person, $600 for each additional person. Accommodations are extra; the lodge is closed in September and the package is offer through the end of December.

Jungle Trekking Adventures and Safaris, Inc. also includes visits to filming locations in its "Trailing the Pirates Treasure" tours, which focus on the history of pirates and the Carib Indians on Dominica. The tour package is $130 for adults, $60 for kids and includes a Kalinago barbecue, tours, and a dip in a jungle river. Available through Dec. 31.

Dominica hotels like the Garraway Hotel and the Fort Young Hotel, as well as the Anchorage Hotel and Dive Center and the Cabrits Dive Center, also are offering pirate-related experiences. And Dominica's Wacky Rollers Adventure Park is re-erecting the rope bridge that appears in the "Pirates" sequel over the Layou River.

For more information on these Dominica deals, contact the Dominica Tourist Office in New York at 888-645-5637.
