Tropical Storm Watch Posted for Bahamas, Turks & Caicos
Wednesday August 2, 2006
Tropical Storm Chris has weakened in the Caribbean after causing evacuations on Puerto Rico's Vieques and Culebra islands and hurricane warnings to be posted for the Bahamas and Turks & Caicos. The storm weakened as it moved west-northwest towards Puerto Rico, the British Virgin Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the hurricane watches for the Bahamas and Turks & Caicos were downgraded to tropical-storm watches.
Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines has diverted three of its ships around the storm -- Navigator of the Seas, Explorer of the Seas, and Freedom of the Seas.
I'll keep you updated as the storm progresses. Meanwhile, check my Caribbean weather guide for tips on planning your safe and dry island vacation.
