Aruba's New Tourist District

Thursday February 2, 2006
Aruba's less-traveled east coast is being eyed for future hotel development, according to the island's tourism minister. The announcement comes as Aruba tries to move beyond the bad publicity surrounding the disappearance of U.S. tourist Natalee Holloway.

Tourism minister Edison Briesen recently announced that a new hotel district will be developed at Baby Beach on the eastern coast of Aruba, and both the country's airport and cruise ship terminal will undergo multimillion-dollar renovations. Downtown Oranjestad also is slated for renovation and redevelopment.
